On what was a dark, grey, rainy day, I had all but given up on creating any sort of photograph during this camping trip in Big Sur. I had set up my tent along the beach and opened a beer with my brother, ready to call it a night. Just as the day was about to be over, the sun found the smallest of gaps in the rain clouds off to the west and illuminated the ocean, waves, and towering cliffs with the most stunning golden glow I’ve ever seen. This image is simply magnificent: powerful, colorful, and an awe-inspiring view of nature at its best. This is another personal favorite that we have printed and hanging in our home.
